Meeting Minutes –

 

11 September 2006

 

The meeting was called to order at 1828 hours by President, CW5R Baiocchetti, with members saluting the flag during the pledge of Allegiance. The President declared a quorum was present.  The meeting was held at the Cattletown Restaurant.

 

Secretary’s Report:  CW3R Michael Turner

 

            The minutes of the July 2006 meeting were presented electronically. A request was made to the members present for clarifications or changes to the electronic minutes; CW3R Michael Turner advised of a minor correction to the minutes – change 10 September 2006 to 11 September 2006 in the Adjournment Section for the next meeting information.

 

            7 Chapter Proxies were returned to the Secretary

 

            A motion was made by CW3R Joe Gill to accept the minutes as presented.  The motion was seconded by CW2R John Curtis.  The motion was passed

 

Treasurer’s Report:  CW4R Harold Lindamood (Presented by CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti)

 

      July 31, 2006 –

                  Savings Account - $26.06

                  Checking Account – $6370.74

 

A motion was made by CW3R Joe Gill to accept the Treasurer’s Report subject to audit, and seconded by CW3R Bill Keller. The motion to accept the July Treasurer’s Report, subject to audit, was approved

 

President's Report:  CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti

 

            A reminder that tonight is election night for the 2007 Chapter Officers

 

Vice President's Report:  CW3R Ron James

 

            No report.  CW3R Ron James had another commitment.

 

Old Business

 

            Golf Tournament 2007 – CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti

 

1. The golf tournament for 2007 has been set for 9 June 2006 at the Omni Tucson National Golf Resort and Spa.  The contract has been signed

 

2.  The investment of the Chapter scholarship and general fund monies has been completed by the Treasurer IAW the instructions set forth at the July 2006 meeting

 

New Business

 

1.  CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti advised that the Rebate check from National has been received in the amount of $11.00

 

2. CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti presented the requirement to appoint a Treasurer’s Auditing Committee.  Nominations were CW3R Art Schmid and CW3R Gary Huggins. The members were appointed to the committee

 

3. A proposal was presented to amend the Chapter Bylaws to change the terms of office for the elected officials from 1 year to 2 years

 

            Article V Section 7a. Term of Office:

Elected/Appointed officers in the Chapter, elected/appointed under the provision of these Bylaws, shall serve in such offices for a period of approximately 1 year depending upon the day of the month the annual or chapter meeting for the election/appointment of officers occurs.

 

            a. A motion was made by CW3R Joe Gill and seconded by CW2R Leonard Wilfong to amend the Chapter Bylaws to read:

 

            Article V Section 7a. Term of Office:

Elected/Appointed officers in the Chapter, elected/appointed under the provision of these Bylaws, shall serve in such offices for a period of approximately 2 years depending upon the day of the month the annual or chapter meeting for the election/appointment of officers occurs.

 

            c. A vote was taken and the decision to send the proposed amendment to National was approved by a count of Yes: 4, No: 3. Proxies on file with the Secretary were counted.

 

            d. The secretary was directed to prepare the formal amendment for submission to National.  Once approved by National, the proposed Amendment will be presented to the Chapter Membership for ratification

 

4.  Election of Officers for 2007.  Nominations were received for the following offices:

 

            President –                  CW2R John Curtis

            Vice President –          W01 Craig Dowdney

 

            a. A motion was made by CW3R Joe Gill and seconded by CW3R Bill Keller to accept and close the nominations.  The motion to accept and close the nominations was passed

 

            b. There being no dissent, the Secretary was directed to cast one vote for each nominee.  The newly elected Chapter Officers for 2007 are:

                         President Elect –                     CW2R John Curtis

                        Vice President Elect –            W01 Craig Dowdney

 

            c. The President Elect, CW2R John Curtis solicited members to fill the positions of Secretary, Treasurer, Historian and Webkeeper.  CW3R Michael Turner agreed to serve another term as Secretary, CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti agreed to serve as Treasurer, CW2R John Curtis agreed to server another term as Historian and CW3R Michael Turner agreed to serve as the Webkeeper

 

            d. The appointments will be offered at the November meeting, after the President Elect assumes office; the appointees will take office at that time

 

5.  A motion was made to send a check for $100 to the SE Region in support of the AMM-2006 General Fund by CW3R Joe Gill and seconded by CW2R Leonard Wilfong.  The motion was approved.  CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti will direct the Treasurer, CW4R Harold Lindamood to issue and mail the check

 

Good of the Order

 

            1.  CW3R Joe Gill, Deputy Director Western Region, provided a report on the Western Region

 

                        a. The Arizona Silver Chapter is paying $100 towards the expenses for their Chapter President to attend the AMM-2006

 

                        b. A request was made for Chapter activities and updates over the past year to be included in the Western Region Directors’ report to the AMM-2006

 

                        c. A reminder that CW4R Harry Wilson is running for Western Region Director.  Also members should begin thinking about possibly running for Western Region Director in 2008

 

            2. CW3R Bill Keller advised that a bugler is available in Marana.  Cost = FREE

 

            3. CW3R Bill Keller distributed a flyer for the Nam Jam on Sunday October 22, 2006 at the Kennedy Regional Fiesta Park (map and directions are on the back of the flyer).  The event is sponsored by the Vietnam Veterans of America Tucson Chapter #106

 

            4. CW3R Bill Keller discussed the embezzlement of the treasury for 82d Airborne Division Tucson Chapter

 

            5.  CW2R John Curtis advised that a new Veteran’s Home is being constructed in Tucson in 2008.  The final location has not been determined

 

            6.  CW3R Joe Gill and CW3R Bill Keller discussed the upcoming Veterans Day and the annual parades in Tucson and Sierra Vista
