Meeting called to
order at 1805
hours by President, CW2R John Curtis, with members saluting the flag
during the Pledge of Allegiance. The President declared a quorum

The minutes of the October
2008 meeting were presented previously to the members electronically. A
motion was made by CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti to accept the minutes as
published and seconded by CW3R Al Price. The motion passed.

Thank you for the members that volunteered to sit as the Audit Team;
CW4R Harold Lindamood and CW3R Gary Huggins.
Lowell-Apache Chapter had 3 members participate in the Massing of
the Colors; CW3R Ron James, Coordinator, CW2 Ted Cogut, Announcer,
and CW4 Bob Ozier was the Chaplain. There were 15 participating
units this year, up from 9 units last year.

participating in the wreath laying ceremonies at the Green Valley

A motion to
close the nominations was made by CW3 Art Schmid and seconded by CW3R Al
Price. The motion was approved. The nominations were accepted and the
vote agreed to by acclamation. The Secretary was directed to cast one
vote for each candidate.

Congratulations! To all,
thank you for leading your USAWOA Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter. The
swearing in ceremony will take place during the Holiday Party on 14
- CW3R Al Price has collected $151 for Soldier Care Packages. The
unit selected for the first Chapter packages is the 504th
MP Battalion. CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti will handle the coordination
with CW3 Al Price for shipping the packages. CW5R Vincent
Baiocchetti made a suggestion that the Chapter keep a single unit as
the package recipients until the unit rotates back to the USA. The
suggestion was agreed upon by voice vote.
Vincent Baiocchetti provided a clarification about the pavers
the Chapter agreed to purchase at the October meeting.
8” x 8” paver with the Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter logo
ONLY (no text) is $600. An 8” x 8” paver with TEXT only
is $500. CW3R Ron James is to prepare a new USAWOA logo with
“Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter, Tucson, AZ” as a ring around
the outside of the formal logo. CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti will
obtain further clarification of the use of the “new” Fort
Lowell-Apache Chapter logo on the pavers.
– The following chapter members have volunteered to assist CW3R Ron
James with the Annual JROTC Drill Meet at Flowing Wells High School
on 13 December 2008: CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti, CW3R Al Price and
CW2R John Curtis. A request by CW3R Ron James for the Chapter to
contribute to the cost of the trophies will be entertained under New
- CW3R Ed Blankshen and his wife Leslie will host this year’s
holiday party at their home on Sunday, 14 December 2008 at 1400.
CW2R John Curtis will keep the members up to date on the dinner
fixin’s via email.
– A motion was made by CW3R Michael Turner for the Chapter to
contribute $500 towards the cost of the presentation trophies for
the Annual JROTC Drill Meet at Flowing Wells High School. The motion
was seconded by CW2 Ted Cogut and approved unanimously.
- A motion was made by CW3R Gary Huggins to change the date of the
December 8th Chapter meeting to December 14th
and to be held at the CW3R Ed and Leslie Blankshen residence. The
motion was seconded by CW4R Harold Lindamood and approved
CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti discussed the possibility of opening up the
Chapter Scholarships to any Service ROTC unit as long as they are
located within the state of Arizona. The general consensus was NO!
leave the requirement as it is; Army ROTC only.

for Holiday Party
– CW3R Ed
Blankshen will provide the written directions to the Secretary who
will create a strip map and provide the map via email to all chapter
members. CW3R Ed Blankshen reminded everyone that he will provide
basic beverages and if anyone wants a specific beverage they should
bring the beverage for themselves.
Day Parade -
CW2R John Curtis reminded the members about the Veteran’s Day parade
in downtown Tucson.
There being no further
business, CW4R Harold Lindamood made a motion that the meeting be
adjourned; seconded by CW3R Ed Blankshen and passed by the members
present at 1913 hours.
The next meeting of the
Chapter will be held at 1400 hours on 14 December 2008 at the CW3R Ed
and Leslie Blankshen residence.
