Meeting Minutes –


18 April 2008


Meeting called to order at 1350 hours by President, CW2R John Curtis,  with members saluting the flag during the Pledge of Allegiance. The President declared a quorum present.  The meeting was held at the Saguaro Room, Mirage Officers Club, Davis Monthan AFB.


Secretary’s Report: 

The minutes of the March 2008 meeting were presented previously to the members electronically. A motion was made by CW4R Harold Lindamood to accept the minutes as published and seconded by CW3R Ron James.  The motion passed.


Treasurer’s Report:  CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti


As of March 31, 2008

            Savings Account:

Opening Balance = $ 5.06


            Checking Account:

 Opening Balance= $ 2384.16

Ending Balance=     $ 3762.28


A motion was made by CW3R Ed Blankschen to accept the Treasurer's Report subject to audit and seconded by CW3R Art Schmid.  The motion passed.


President's Report:  CW2R John Curtis


CW2R John Curtis thanked the Chapter members for attending the 3rd Annual All Arizona USAWOA Chapter meeting.  As in years past, the Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter members constituted the largest Chapter turnout for the meeting.

Unfinished Business:      


  1. JROTC Program

    1. Awards – The Flowing Wells awards presentation is scheduled for 1745, Wednesday, 16 April 2008.  CW2R John Curtis is POC for the Chapter awards.


    1. Awards – CW4R Bob Ozier will present Distinguished JROTC medals to the Casa Grande High School USMC JROTC program.


  1.  Golf Tournament - 7 June Tucson Omni

    1. Committee Chairman, CW5R Baiocchetti, stated that he had received a registration form and $280 for a team, some money from hole sponsors, and donations in response to letters he had sent out.  Solicited help from members for tournament workers and more sponsorship.

    2. CW4R Harold Lindamood suggested the possibility of asking Royal Buick, in Tucson, to sponsor  a “Hole-In-One” automobile gift.  Royal Buick is one of the large sponsors for the annual professional golf tournament in Tucson.  Harold will investigate further with Royal Buick.

    3. CW3R Michael Turner agreed that his consulting company, Shamrock Electro Optics, will again sponsor the “Hole-In-one” program this year.


  1. Chapter Family Picnic – 3 May 2008

    1. There was discussion about moving the picnic to 17 May versus 3 May if CW2R John Curtis can change our ramada reservation at Fort Lowell Park.

    2. There was also a discussion about holding a chapter picnic in early October, after the monsoon, as a second gathering for the year.  The idea was well received.

    3. CW3R Keller will check with Little Anthony and their traveling Hamburg/Hot Dog Trailer and report back at the next meeting.


  1. Meeting Location

    1. CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti discussed the possibility of moving the northern monthly meeting to the Village Inn near Oracle Road and Orange Grove road to make the meeting a little more accessible to the southerly members.


New Business: 





CW4R Bob Ozier made a motion that the meeting be adjourned; seconded by CW5R Brad Rinehart and passed by the members present at 1435 hours. 


The next meeting of the Chapter will be held on May 12, 2008 at Michelangelo's Ristorante Italiano, 420 W Magee Rd [at Oracle Road].
