Meeting Minutes –


12 October 2009


Meeting called to order at 1804 hours by Vice President CW2R John Curtis leading the Pledge of Allegiance.  The Vice President declared a quorum present.  The meeting was held at Cattletown Restaurant.


Secretary's Report:

The minutes of the September 2009 meeting were presented previously to the members electronically.  A motion was made by CW4R Harold Lindamood to accept the minutes as published and seconded by CW2 Craig Dowdney.  The motion passed.

A motion was made by CW5R Dave Koch to accept the Treasurer’s Report, subject to audit, and seconded by CW3R Ed Blankschen.  The motion passed.

1.       Membership: unchanged


2.       MIAP: A short recap of the program and the current status was provided for the first-time attendees.


3.       First-Time meeting attendees:  A welcome was extended to first-time Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter member CW5R David Koch from Rio Rico and possible USAWOA member CWO Jon Jonas.


Unfinished Business:


  1. Election of Officers for 2009-2010: CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti was nominated for President.  CW2R John Curtis was nominated for Vice-President.  CW2 Craig Dowdney withdrew his nomination for Vice

President. There being only one candidate for each office, a motion was made CW2 Craig Dowdney that the Secretary be instructed to enter one vote for each candidate. The motion was seconded by CW5R Dave Koch and approved by the members present.   The Fort Lowell-Apache elected officers for 2010 are:

  1. The Community Food Bank: CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti mentioned last month, that a program involving food manufacturers’ donations and empty trailers and truck drivers that would transport donated items.  CW2R John Curtis reported that a company in Las Vegas, NV routinely provided this service.  The cost for a full trailer of food is $700, delivered to the Tucson Community Food Bank.  A motion was made by CW4R Harold Lindamood to authorize up to $700 to be donated to the Community Food Bank for one load of food to be transported from Las Vegas, NV to Tucson, AZ.  The motion was seconded by CW5R Dave Koch and approved by the members present.


  1. The Community Food Bank:  CW2R John Curtis also discovered that the Food Bank collects food donations during the Winterhaven Festival December 12th – 28th this year.  Their evening collections (5:30 – 10:00) are open to a group participation. The requirement is for 1, 2, 3, or 4 members to man the donation tables.  CW2R John Curtis has published a list of the needed dates and asked that member’s that wish to participate add their names and the name(s) of added helpers to the list via email.


  1. JROTC Drill Meet:  Chapter members are reminded that the annual Apache Drill Meet is scheduled for Saturday, December 12th at Flowing Wells HS.  Scorers are needed to work behind the scene.  Uniformed Judges are also requested.  From experience we know that 8 to 10 scorers will do the trick.  Last year we had five.  CW3R Al Price and CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti have volunteered to be judges again.


  1. Christmas Party:  Chapter members are reminded that Michael and Mary Turner have invited the membership family into their home on Sunday, December 13th at 1400 hours.  The menu for this pot luck dinner will be solicited closer to the event. 


  1.  Missing In America Project:  Our volunteers have received instructions, information and necessary forms to complete registration with MIAP National.  Communication has been established with the new MIAP Arizona coordinator.  Ms. Christina Duwel has been invited to address the Chapter in the near future.  Updates will be provided at future monthly meetings.


New Business:


December Chapter Meeting:  The December meeting on Monday, December 14, 2009 should be moved to Sunday, 13 December 2009 and be held during the Christmas party.  A motion was made by CW4R Harold Lindamood to move the meeting to 13 December 2009.  The motion was seconded by CW3R Ed Blankschen and approved by the members present.

Christmas Party Menu: (so far)

·         CW4R Harold Lindamood (Lindy) and CW3R Gary Huggins (Gary) are committed to bring a ham.

·         CW3R Michael Turner will provide a Boston Butt, soft drinks, chips and dip and wine for the festivities.




There being no further business, CW2R John Curtis made a motion that the meeting be adjourned.  The motion was seconded by CW4R Harold Lindamood and passed by the members present at 1854 hours.


The next meeting of the Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter will be held at 1800 hours on November 9, 2009 at Michelangelo Ristorante Italiano, at 420 W Magee Rd [at Oracle].
