Meeting Minutes –

 

8 June 2009

 

Meeting called to order at 1758 hours by President CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti leading the Pledge of Allegiance.  The President declared a quorum present.  The meeting was held at Michelangelo Ristorante Italiano.

 

The AAAA conducted their business meeting.

 

Secretary’s Report: 

The minutes of the May 2009 meeting were presented previously to the members electronically. A motion was made by CW3R Al Price to accept the minutes as published and seconded by CW3R Ed Blankschen. The motion passed.

A motion was made by CW3R Ron James to accept the Treasurer's Report, subject to audit, and seconded by CW3R Michael Turner.

 

President's Report:  CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti

 

  1. Special Chapter Meeting – Tonight’s meeting is joint meeting with the AAAA.  Welcome to the members of the Old Tucson Chapter of the AAAA from Marana, AZ.

 

  1. Historical Soldier Relocation Project Four chapter members and their spouses, CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti and Eileen Baiocchetti, CW3R Art Schmid and Jean Schmid, CW2R Leonard Wilfong and CW2R John Curtis and Jean Curtis, attended the re-internment ceremonies on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at the SAVMC Cemetery in Sierra Vista, AZ. 

 

The ceremonies were in honor of the soldier remains located during the site preparation for the Joint Courts Complex for Pima County and the City of Tucson in downtown Tucson.  http://www.azdvs.gov/Files/Cemetery/Motorcycle%20Escort%20Historical%20Poster.pdf

 

                          

Vice President's Report: CW2R John Curtis

 

1.     Membership: The Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter has a total of 35 members:

a.     Life:                       10

c.      Affiliated:                 5

d.     Active and participating in Chapter events and business: 15

 

2.        Missing in America Project – CW2R John Curtis, CW3R Art Schmid and CW3R Al Price have begun coordination with the Arizona statewide committee. http://www.miap.us/, and the National Organization for assistance with setting up the Southern Arizona program.

 

 

Unfinished Business:          

 

 

  1. Chapter Picnic – The Annual Chapter picnic will be held on 27 June 2009 at the home of CW3R Ron James. The chapter will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, cheese, rolls/buns and condiments.  Members are asked to bring chips, desserts, etc.  A strip map to will be provided to all Fort Lowell-Apache members.

 

  1. New Chapter Shirt Vendor – CW3R Al Price brought some sample shirts for our purview.  He wore the newest “model” that he had prepared, as well as a new shirt for another member.    The tentative costs are $18 for a lightweight shirt, $21 for a heaver weight shirt.  Pockets are available at extra cost. 

 

  1. AMM-2009 -CW3R Michael Turner reminded everyone that CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti’s request for paid expenses for the AMM-2009 was only for the air fare, not all of his expenses.  The item was tabled until next month.

 

 

New Business:

           

Arizona Silver Chapter Golf Tournament - CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti reminded everyone that the Arizona Silver Chapter Golf Tournament will be held in Naco on 12 September 2009 and that the Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter should participate.

 

Good of the Order: 

 

  1. Annual Golf Tournament - CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti provided an update for upcoming 8th Annual Warrant Officer golf tournament to be held at the Tucson National Golf Resort on 13 June 2009.

 

    1. Assignments were assigned and reviewed.

    2. A recap of the duties of each volunteer was performed.

 

Adjournment:

 

There being no further business, CW3R Ed Blankschen made a motion that the meeting be adjourned; the motion was seconded by CW3R Al Price and passed by the members present at 1909 hours. 

 

Since we are having our picnic on Saturday, June 27th we will NOT have a July meeting.

 

The next meeting of the Chapter will be held at 1800 hours on 10 August 2009 at a location to be announced.  Check the website at http://www.usawoa-ftlowell-apache.org   and email announcements for the location.
