No report

New Business:

Missing in America – CW3R Art Schmid briefed the members on the Missing In America Project – The Missing Veteran Program. The MIAP mission statement is “The purpose of the MIA Project is to locate, identify and inter the unclaimed cremated remains of American veterans through the joint efforts of private, state and federal organizations…”  The mission, goals and current status of the project can be found at their website:  http://www.miap.us/.

A motion was made by CW3R Art Schmid to appoint CW2R John Curtis, Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter Vice President, to form a committee to determine the full extent of Chapters’ involvement in the MIAP.  The motion was seconded by CW3R Al Price and passed by the members present.

After further discussion, a motion was made by CW3R Art Schmid for the Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter to do donate $300 in support of the Honors At Arlington project to escort the remains of 3 veterans to their final resting place at Arlington National Cemetery.  The motion was seconded by CW3R Al Price and passed by the members present.

JROTC Medals – CW4 Bob Ozier led a discussion concerning why the Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter does not donate the USAWOA ROTC Medal to all schools in the country that request them.  The purpose of the medal and distribution program was explained.  Currently, the only JROTC programs that receive the medals courtesy of the Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter are the Tucson based programs.  The proceeds from the sale of the medals help perpetuate the medal program and provide a very modest source of memorabilia income for the Chapter.  There was no further discussion.
