Meeting Minutes –
8 November 2010
Meeting called to order: at 1800 hours by President CW2R Lance Dickinson leading the Pledge of Allegiance. The President declared a quorum present. The meeting was held at Metropolitan American Kitchen.
Secretary's Report: CW3R Ron James
The minutes of the October 2010 meeting were presented previously to all members electronically. Motion made by CW4R Harold Lindamood to accept minutes as published, seconded by CW2R John Curtis. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report, as of 31 October 2010: CW4R Harold Lindamood
Funds in the Checking Account:
Opening Balance 1 October 2010 $5,681.64
Ending Balance 31October 2010 $4,681.64
A motion was made by CW3R Michael Turner to accept the Treasurer’s Report, subject to audit, and seconded by CW2R Ted Cogut. The motion passed.
President's Report: CW2R Lance Dickinson
2010 AMM: Former President CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti was unable to attend the 2010 AMM.
Apache Drill Competition: Will be held on December 11th. Please confirm your assistance tonight to CW3R Ron James.
Christmas Party: This year’s event will be on 5 December, at 2 PM at the home of CW3R Ed and Leslie Blankschen.
Preparation for our 501(C)3 Application: CW2R Lance Dickinson talked with Maj(R) Robert DeWitt of the Flowing Wells JROTC unit and obtained a considerable amount of information concerning the process.
Hospice Veterans Partnership Program: CW2R Lance Dickinson and CW2R John Curtis have attended the Casa de La Luz hospice training. CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti, CW3R Al Price, CW4R Harold Lindamood and CW3R Michael Turner are waiting to attend the training.
Vice-President's Report: CW2R John Curtis
Drill Meet: CW3R Ron James reminded everyone that the annual Drill Competition meet will be held on Saturday, 11 December 2010 at Flowing Wells High School. There is a need for scorers and judges. CW2R John Curtis, CW3R Art Schmid, CW4 Harold Lindamood, CW3R Ed Blankshen, and CW2 Lance Dickinson agreed to be scorers, and CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti and CW3R Al Price agreed to be judges.
CW3R Ron James advised that he was looking for a solution to serve “breakfast snacks” such as Breakfast Burrito’s/hamburgers, etc. at the drill meet. The previous concessionaire has indicated that they are not returning this year.
Outgoing President’s Recognition: CW3R Gary Huggins recommended that the outgoing President be recognized for their service to the Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter and the USAWOA by providing the individual with a plaque. A sample plaque was passed around for the members in attendance to observe. CW4R Harold Lindamood made a motion to award the outgoing President a plaque. The plaque would only be awarded to an individual regardless of the number of terms served as the President. The motion was seconded by CW2R Ted Cogut, and approved unanimously.
Challenge Coins: No discussion this month.
Institute of Heraldry: CW3R Ron James reported that he has been requested to provide the specifications, where and how the medals are purchased for award and a letter from the ROTC Cadet Command to the Institute of Heraldry concerning certification of our Fort Lowell-Apache ROTC medal. CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti reminded everyone that our Fort Lowell-Apache ROTC medal is NOT certified by the Cadet Command for wear on the cadet’s uniforms.

Christmas Party Reservation and Food Process: Send an email to CW3R Ed Blankschen, email@example.com, with a copy to CW2R John Curtis, John.Curtis@quarles.com letting them know how many are attending and what you are bringing to the party.
Massing of the Colors: CW4R Bob Ozier provided a report on the Massing of the Colors held on 7 November 2010. The Flowing Wells High School JROTC unit carried the Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter Colors.

Whereabouts of CW2 Craig and Donna Dowdney: Has anyone seen or heard from CW2 Craig and Donna Dowdney in the past few months? If you have, please let CW2R Lance Dickinson or CW3R Michael Turner know their whereabouts.
Veteran’s Day Parade: The Flowing Wells High School JROTC unit will be marching in the Tucson Veteran’s Day parade on 11 November 2010 and will carry the Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter Colors.
Thanks for a job well done: CW2 Lance Dickinson led the way in thanking CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti and CW2 John Curtis for their efforts and successes as the Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter President and Vice President, respectively, for the past year. Thank you both for a Job-Well-Done.
There being no further business, CW3R Gary Huggins made a motion that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by CW3R Michael Turner. The motion passed at 1918 hours.
The next meeting of the Fort Lowell-Apache Chapter of the USAWOA will be held at the home of CW3R Ed and Leslie Blankschen, at 1400 on Sunday, December 5, 2010.
