Meeting Minutes –
12 April 2011
Meeting called to order at 1806 hours by President CW2R Lance Dickinson leading the Pledge of Allegiance. The President declared a quorum present. The meeting was held at Cody’s Beef & Beans. CW4R Robert Ozier led the Invocation.
Secretary's Report: CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti
The minutes of the March 2011 meeting were presented previously to all members electronically. Motion made by CW3R Ed Blankschen to accept minutes as published, seconded by CW3R Ron James. Motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report, as of March 31, 2011: CW4R Harold Lindamood
Funds in the Checking Account:
Opening Balance 1 March 2011 $4,995.16
Ending Balance 31 March 2011 $5,587.37
A motion was made by CW3R Edward Blankschen to accept the Treasurer’s Report, subject to audit, and seconded by CW4R Robert Ozier . The motion passed.
President's Report: CW2R Lance Dickinson
The President reported that he has appointed CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti as the Secretary of the Chapter, vice CW3R Michael Turner.
The President reported that he didn’t know why we haven’t been called for the Hospice Presentation with Casa de la Luz, but will be checking in to it.
Vice-President's Report: CW2R John Curtis
Our current membership numbers stand at 38 – 9 Life members.
On March 25th ,11:00a.m. at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Sierra Vista there will be a mass internment of the cremains of 16 veterans most recently deceased in Pima County. There will be veteran groups, the American Legion Riders, Disabled American Veterans, Senator McCain and Representative Giffords will also have representatives in attendance. The convoy will leave Adair Funeral home at 0800 with escorts by the city and county police to I-10 and they will then drive to Sierra Vista for the internment.
The President appointed CW3R Art Schmid to represent the chapter and accept the flag from the Missing In America Project (MIAP). CW4R Lindamood, CW3R Al Price will also attend.
The President reported that the paperwork for our application for 501c(3) status will be in the mail tomorrow. He reiterated that the purpose of this application and recognition by the government of our chapter as a “Not for Profit” organization is strictly to help us receive donations from groups which would then allow us to give them a letter stating that the donation is tax deductible.
Motion was made by CW3R Art Schmid and seconded by CW3R Al Price to allocate $400.00 to be attached to the application to the IRS. Motion passed.
CW3R Ron James moved that $413.16 be authorized to pay for 58 medals at $6.90 each plus shipping for our JROTC cadet program. Motion seconded by CW5R Vincent Baiocchetti. Motion passed.
CW4R Harold Lindamood reported that he has been asked by the Scottish Right of Arizona to present a medal and check to a Nogales High School JROTC cadet later this month.
CW3R Ron James passed around gold and silver key chains with the WOA emblem in the center which is made by “Pieces of History.” Each key chain would cost us $4.62 each. His thought is that this might by another piece of memorabilia we could sell.
Motion made by CW2R Lance Dickinson and seconded by CW4R Harold Lindamood that a $500 scholarship be awarded to JROTC cadet Christopher Robert Mathis. Motion passed.
CW2R John Curtis moved that the dues for CW2 Jeffrey Whitbeck be paid for by the chapter while he is on active duty overseas. Motion seconded by CW3R Gary Huggins. Motion passed.
There being no further business, CW2R John Curtis made a motion that the meeting be adjourned, seconded by CW3R Gary Huggins. Motion passed at 1907 hours.
The next meeting of the Chapter will be held at the Metropolitan Grill American Kitchen, at 1800 hours on 9 May 2011.
